   Kendrick-Juliaetta Arts Commission
Showcasing our Community and North Central Idaho Artists The KJ-Arts Commission is dedicated to providing opportunities for community members to enjoy the beauty of art in all it's forms.  The purpose of this web site is to share information about activities and events that focus on the arts and to assist local artists in showing their work.     

Kendrick-Juliaetta Arts Commission

 2009-2010 Action Plan

 

Mission Statement: To strengthen the sense of community through promotion and enhancement of the arts in the Kendrick and Juliaetta area.

 

Ongoing – Raise funds to provide a scholarship for a graduating Kendrick High School Senior.

 

Ongoing – Provide an arts website, www.kjartscommission.com, to share information and offer the work of local artists for sale.

 

Ongoing – Display the work of local artists at local galleries as well as business and gathering sites such as Archie’s Diner and the Senior Center.

 

Ongoing –Meet with Pool Committee to begin an action plan for a mural at Kendrick Memorial Pool. 

 

November 2009 – Sponsor an Art and Crafts Sale at Lewiston Christmas Bonanza

 

December 2009 – Annual Christmas Art Show at Wells Fargo Bank.  This year will be an opportunity for the local photographers to display their work and will feature our first scholarship winner, Kara Weiss.

 

Spring 2010 – Provide art experiences for Juliaetta Elementary School students by sponsoring an Artist in Residence Program

o   Collaborate with Elementary School staff

o   Expense: $1400

 

March 2010 – Host a Craft Fair and Sale at Firefighter’s Pancake Feed.  Funds generated to be used for student projects.

 

April 2010– Arbor Day activity for community youth

o   Collaborate with Fix Ridge 4H and Friends of the Library

o   Expense: to be determined

 

May 2010 - Locust Blossom Art Show and Sale in Kendrick Memorial Park will encourage artists of all media, including photography, to enter their work.

o   Collaborate with Juliaetta Elementary School and Kendrick High School to enter student work

o   Expense: $50 for meal tickets for student helpers

 

Summer 2010 – Fun with Flowers in Kendrick City Park.  Help families enjoy the beauty of flowers by providing free fresh flowers and containers for arrangements.

o   Collaborate with Hill and Valley Garden Club

o   Expense: $100 for flowers

 

September 2010 – Blackberry Festival Art Show and Sale

 

Proposed Future Projects:  Provide more music and youth activities, bring a music or theater production to the community, host a craft, pottery or sewing class, collaborate with Juliaetta Library on Summer Reading Program activities
